Does the Sentence Make Sense? | Episode 036

In Reading Boots Episode 036, you will learn an important during reading strategy called, “Does the Sentence Make Sense?” In this strategy, you will intentionally read some sentences incorrectly, then ask your child if the sentence that you read made sense. If the sentence you read made sense, your child will give you a thumbs up, if the sentence did not make sense, your child will give you a thumbs down.

It is important to explicitly teach emergent and beginning readers that every sentence needs to make sense. Modeling self-monitoring, thinking about one’s own reading, for young children will help them become successful independent readers.
