Character Switch | Episode 025

In Reading Boots Episode 025, you will learn a fun during reading strategy called Character Switch. In Character Switch, your child will trade places with the main character in the story and you will read your child’s name each time you see the character’s name. When you’re finished reading the story aloud, you will ask your child if he/she liked switching places with the main character and why or why not.

Asking an open ended question like, “Why did you like trading places with the character?” allows your child to use higher level thinking skills. Your child will need to come up with reasons why he/she liked trading places with the character which will force him/her to analyze and evaluate the story. Your child will love the change of hearing his/her name inserted in the story.
