In Reading Boots Episode 024, you will learn a fun during reading strategy called Movement Surprise. During a read aloud, children have expectations that the book will be handled one way: right side up, left page to right page. To create surprise and interest, play Movement Surprise and move the book in an unexpected way.

When reading aloud “The Very Hungry Caterpillar,” you can open and close the last two pages to make it look like the butterfly is flying. Your child will love helping you make the butterfly “fly.” Check out Episode 024 to learn additional ideas on how to move the read aloud book in unusual ways.
