Quick Tip on Nursery Rhymes | Episode 029

In Reading Boots Episode 029, you’ll learn the importance of reading and reciting nursery rhymes with emerging and beginning readers. Lots of parents tell me that once their children are older, they stop singing nursery rhymes. Don’t do that! Nursery rhymes are a great way for young readers to practice phrasing, expression, and story sequencing by retelling the beginning, middle, and end of the rhyme. They are also excellent texts to use to introduce and teach new vocabulary words.

Your child is never too old to read and sing nursery rhymes! Pull out your child’s old favorites or discover some new ones to change up your read aloud time.
